HD LCD differences?

Question

Can someone tell me why last years Samsung 40'' LCD model is more expensive than this years 2008 Samsung 40'' LCD? I dont understand, this years model has all the same specs, and beat the old model in contrast ratio?

Parts and manufacturing continue to get less expensive the longer they're around and the more that are made.  Just like pc's get better and less expensive all the time.  The trend in prices for LCD is downward.

There are many reasons that this may be true. Some are: New designs that take advantage of new, lower cost hardware and parts. Improved production techniques allow for the manufacturing at a lower cost. Higher volumes allow for renegotiated supplier contracts. Competitive pressure.
