be honest!

I think most of you HD Owners have NEVER been on a Japanese bike!

Wouldn't it be a more enjoyable experience riding a smooth, comfortable, vibration free Japanese bike?

You guys don't know what your missing!

  1. Yeah.

    Triumphs and BSAs

    SMOOTH? Don't require it.

COMFORTABLE? j*p bikes aren't to me (I'm too tall).

    VIBRATION? Doesn't bother me.

  2. To date, I have owned sport bikes made by Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Ducati.  I've owned a Suzuki standard and 3 harleys.  I have also owned numerous dirt bikes and quads from Japan.  I worked at a yamaha dealer years ago, which gave me an opportunity to ride many, many more.  I see advantages and disadvantages to every make of bike out there.  If I ever hit the "power ball", i'll have one of each!

IMO, most of your comments are pretty derogatory against people who ride h.d.'s.  I think most of it is done in fun, but have seen some people get offended by them.  This one doesn't seem so bad, which is why i'm taking the time to answer it, instead of bashing the other way against you.

I don't think anyone will ever change your opinion of harley's, but hopefully you will be able to find some level of appreciation for them down the road.

As for your friend, there are a lot of people like him, on both sides of the fence.  Call it being stuck in their ways, or just narrowminded, chances are they will never change.  Some people just don't want to ride a sport bike, some people just don't want to ride a smooth, vibration free cruiser from japan, and there are some people that just don't want to ride a harley.  I don't feel there is anything wrong with any of them.  I can't fault a person for what their favorite kind of bike is.  I'm just glad they are on a bike and enjoying it.

I can respect your decision to ride what ever you want, can you respect mine?  I currently ride a harley dresser, and I just bought a wrecked Honda RC 51, which I will rebuild, and ride when it is finished.

  3. Have had/ridden HDs before- sportster, panheads, early shovel heads from AMF, big UL flathead, K for a short time- they have their good points but can be considered attractive nuisance- they attract nuisances like police pullovers and thieves. BMWs don't attract as many nuisances, Japanese bikes have less hassle by most police, Gold Wings fairly easy to handle and police tolerate. Torque is a nice riding feature of big twins.

  4. I think you're grossly mistaken. Most of us work our way up to a Harley.

    I've owned a few Hondas.

    A couple Yamahas.

    A Kawasaki.

Not sure what my next bike will be. I'm not done with this one yet.

  5. Just about all of them

british hillclimbers to Kaw 1000 choppers

If I wanted one of those POS dont you think I would know it without you little Zits telling me

  6. I rode suzuki moto cross, yamaha rz350, Kawasaki 900, Ducati desmo['75], but one of my favourite bikes was my first street bike. A 71 kawasaki 500. Very fast for the time, could lay rubber in second on the fly.

So, ya, I know what I'm missing. Why are you trying to sell us on Japanese bikes?

Do you think you'll ever try riding a Harley?

  7. i really would like to ride a japanese bike, but i remember what happend to us about Pearl Harbor and The Rape of Nanking.  so you can keep the japanese **** thats out there.

  8. I've owned Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes, but I didn't know what I was missing until I got by Harley.  You guys who only ride j*p bikes don't know what you're missing.

  9. Yes, I owned a Honda VTX1300R.  It was a cool, well made, and smooth running bike.....but nothing like my Road King. My HD looks better, runs better, sounds better, and feels much better on long trips.

  10. I know exactly what I'm missing, and I'm happy as h*** that I'm missing it.

  11. Joe, Joe, Joe! I think you're trying to start something. I have a "Japanese Cruiser" and love it. I also would own a Harley if I wanted one. I have had opportunity to both ride one to see what it was and buy one from the guy's friend sight unseen but I know both were kept inside unless being ridden. Not everyone wants what YOU want. I personally wouldn't even TRY to get on a sport bike. I don't mind the bikes but I know they're not for me because of an injury years ago and aggravated wrist conditions. Also I don't care much for the people around here that ride them and steer way clear of them. I have had them pass me in MY lane out there. No need to be stupid just because you're fast. Not all of us are ready to die.

  12. whats HD. isnt it a silverado model???

  13. I'm opposite- I'm never riding a HD, ever.

My boss tries to get me to take his dyna around the parking lot, and calls it a real bike compared to my R1. I laugh in his face, since he has no idea what's tucked under that svelte gas tank.
