Is it worth buying an HD Ready TV? Does this display as good as a Full HD if the TV is not that big, say 32"?

Thank you

  1. HD Ready means that you will have to purchase a seperate HD receiver which will then allow you to get HD channels, wheras an HD television will already have it built in and get the HD channels right out of the box. There really is no difference in how good the HD channels look on the two, it all depends on your particular TV really. If you have a 720p vs a 1080p (in which case a 1080p will look better). If you have a 120 Hz vs a 60 Hz LCD (in which case 120 Hz would be better). In my honest opinion the best LCD that is not too pricey right now would have to be the new 120Hz Samsung Touch of Color series 650 or 750, the smallest of which comes as a 40". This is by far one of the best LCDs I've seen in a while.

  2. HD ready means it will display a full HD picture from an HD cable box.  The downside to hd ready only is that you can't recieve over the air hd channels with an antenna.  I don't know anyone who owns an HDTV that doesn't have a cable provider with a box.  Go HD ready!  Lower cost and a built in HD Tuner is unnecessary with a cable box, which you will need anyway if you want any of the pay channels.  Full HD=waste of money

  3. full hd does not pertain to whether the tv has the tuner in it or not.  what full HD means is that the TV is 1080p, as opposed to 1080i or 720p resolutions.
