  1. h**l NO i wouldn't ride those loud vibrating pieces of c**p, give me a good CBR or XR any day over a wet- f**t sounding Harley

  2. when I was younger I owned a HD

now that I'm older, wiser and smarter I own a Japanese Bike

    I learn from my mistakes

when I had a HD, the HD broke down, the dealer refused to repair it under warranty and I learned my lesson never to own another HD.

When I bash HD I am helping people not to make the same mistake I did by buying and owning a HD.

The problem I see with people I know that own a HD is they have trouble affording, and finding the money to maintain and repair their bike, its always the same problems, upper engine rebuild that costs $3000, shifter barrel replace costs $1100, broken drive belts, brakes, electrical problems and so on.

I know a guy with a $450 a month payment and he had to come up with $3000 to repair his HD.

If you're rich and money isn't a problem, great! then owning a HD is no problem for you.

I am just trying to protect and help the new, beginner who wants a HD as his first bike, because owning one will put him into the poor house!

  3. Outlast a Harley? what are you smoking? How many 10 year old j*p bikes are still on the road? I've got a 55 pan and a 42 flattie I ride regularly. The vast majority of j*p bikes over 5 years old are in the junkyards.

  4. No, Harley used to be american, Now its India. Its all about $ to them now. get a vIctory.

  5. the truth of the matter is that the j*p bikes will outlast a harley and they cost a h**l of alot less, but they dont gain or retain there value like a harley does, i will probably be buying a crotchrocket soon to drive around on base but when i get older like my dad and decide to get a cruiser you can guarantee it will be an all american bike, im going with harley, my dads got one.

  6. I will never own a POS like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me it's the wanna be biker tough guy image that every tool gets when they buy one of those POS.

The craving for the accessories and the gayass image they all tote like some great badge of honor.

I see more of these middle aged never rode anything before

drunk driving doing the old point to the lane while they cut off a car and so much other stupid schit..That I never want to be be in that crowd period

  7. Seen lots of metrics last a long time. They're all over the place being ridden and in the paper for sale. Harleys equal the numbers of all metrics combined for being sold by their owners. WHY? Are there that many out there buying new bikes? At my age I don't know if I'll ever buy another bike anyway but if I do, I will consider Harley. I will be buying my wife HER first bike this fall and most likely her second one in the spring after she learns the proper ways to ride. Then you can bash her because she'll be riding a V Star. Seems it don't make a S**t what a person buys or likes because someone else's bike is always better.

  8. Hopefully, I'll die before I slow down that much.  I already have the finest motorcycle ever made in USA.

  9. I've owned everything from Harley to Triumph, and I see pro's and con's on each. I used to prefer cruisers, but now I prefer sport-tourers, hence the Triumph. I've enjoyed every bike I've ever owned.

If I ever want another heavy cruiser with a fairing, I might consider an ElectraGlide. But I'll also test out a Nomad, VTX 1800, etc. Whichever fits my needs and is most comfy will be my bike.

I could care less what brand you ride. Some posters seem to really get off on brand alone, and feel like it's all part of their psyche. Whatever. If that floats your boat, fine. If you feel like people care, you're probably 90% wrong. The guy you pass going the other way on the 500cc Honda who has a huge smile on his face doesn't care. He's just enjoying the ride. He's not thinking, "gee, wish I had a Harley". I love that silly argument every time I see it on here.

Keep on baiting (goes for many folks), I'll always have the same answer: "Nobody cares that you own an HD". Nobody cares that I had one. Nobody thinks twice that they pass someone on a Goldwing. They all see the same thing: a motorcyclist.

  10. BTDT. Windshields are for women and old men. Yeah, even this grandpa had one.

I think I'm gonna get another Yamaha.

I must be falling off the fence.

  11. Does anyone realize that HARLEY is a JAPCRUISER!

HD was going out of business due to the constant complaints by non mechanics buying the bike, the expense's etc. Now HD's last longer than ever now. As for the noise well, my loud Rhineherts have kept me rolling. My Yosh pipes got me cut off. Choose what you want to ride, A quiet j*p bike or a loud j*p Bike.

  12. No, I will continue to ride my metrics, but thanks for the offer. Although if I ever would consider getting "the finest American motorcycle ever made" I'd buy a Victory.

  13. I am guessing that people that are bashing Harleys have no problem with the product.  Most likely the cause is:

Most Harley riders are middle aged professionals earning well over the average wage.

    1. The basher had no father figure in their life for various reasons. And they have deep anger against their father.  They also relate Harley riders as father figures.  That would account for the adolescent behavior from what would otherwise be reasonable people.

    2. The basher is making below average wages and is intimidated by successful people. They relate to Harleys owners as successful and wealthy people.

If you read some of the post by Harley bashers there is no proven or accurate data for their reasons to hate Harleys.  I believe my theory is right on. I am not saying that everyone that does not ride a Harley has other issues. Just the ones that bash Harleys for no justifiable reason.

  14. Been on one of several H-D's for 37 years. Riding a perfect 1979 1340 FLH.I live in Ohio and would not hesitate to start for the west coast on it today.

  15. No I will stick to my Moto Guzzi's.

  16. I rip on Harley just about as much as the next guy but the truth is I will consider every bike as the time comes to get a new bike.  Last summer I was in the market for a fast, fun bike and ended up with a CBR1000rr.  Sure I give Honda a little extra credit when choosing a bike since I have had good luck with them in the past and still do to this day, but I looked at what the others had to offer and asked around.  I even made a trip to the local Harley shop to check out the Buell bikes,  they just do not hit the mark for me, add to that the fact that the bikes are a few steps behind in the performance department and it was easy for me to remove them for my list of possible bikes.  The new Buell will get a peek next time around but from what have heard about them being under powered I doubt I will purchase one.  Last year I even asked the dealer about the new v-rod models and was told not much had changed performance wise from the time my brother had his (my 600 could walk away from it) so I was not interested.  Honestly Harley doesn't make a bike that fits the things I want in a bike, too bad really.  Your question asks if I would consider them when I am old, and I will, hopefully they will make a bike that fits my wants at that time or anytime soon.

  17. Actually like anyone who knows nothing about bikes, my first idea of the best motorcycle to have was a Harley.  My dad and uncle both rode them when they were teenagers, back when they were about as fast a bike as you could buy.

Sadly when I was a teenager I just didn't have the money so I bought a Triumph which I loved.  Ten years and 4 bikes later I was looking at bikes and realized I could have a Harley if I wanted one.  Test road one and immediately lost interest in Harley's.

It was by far the worst bike I ever road.  It was stiff, it was heavy, it vibrated like a jackhammer and made lots of noise both out the muffler and in the gearbox.  Sorry but when I buy a bike I want more for my money than just a name.

MCM....I 'bash Harleys'  cause it is like shooting fish in a barrel.  Also I think the guys you call RUBs are total dorks and are the majority of Harley owners.  And I absolutely despise the loud pipes when I'm trying to enjoy some nature 3 miles from the highway.  Also I think there is something totally un-masculine in buying an underpowered overweight bike because you like the brand name or enjoy accessorizing with chrome doo-dads.

  18. i really dont think i'll ever get a HD im not sure why. just seams wrong. unless for some reason they randomly grow on me i'll stick to sport bikes.

  19. Older and slow down a bit?  I guess so, now that I am 74, try not to get over 100 over 4 or 5 times on a Sunday ride, haven't hit 150 for a year or so, not due to age, but to the increased traffic and law enforcement.  We have a lot of good, open back roads around here.  A Harley does not fit my likes, or riding pleasures.  Has not since I learned to go around curves back in the 1950's.  Yes, I would think a Harley is the best American motorcycle, maybe.  Victory is close at worst, maybe best.  But American motorcycles are like American cars, to say they are the best American bike  is fine, sure not the best in the world.  So, you Harley bashers lay off the Harleys, its bad enough having to ride the thing, let alone being teased about it.  And you Harley guys, lay of the metrics, you do not have to try to take out your frustration at your slow, clumsy ride on the guys who you really envy.

Yes, I know I stepped on the toes of both sides, and I meant too.  Ride proud, ride happy, and let the other side alone.

    Tomcotexas.
