  1. a credit card to pay for it, it is similar to pay tv

  2. You will need a HDMI cable

  3. you need a satellite system to recieve HD.....i have an HD ready tv but do not subscribe to HD tv yet, as i need a new box

  4. an antenna

  5. Hi

Since current free to air transmissions broadcast in MPEG 2 and HD will be in MPEG 4 i would say you wan't be able to receive it untill you get a new box.

Also, any tv that says 'hd ready' doesn't mean it's ready to receive hd transmissions.

Right now, the only tv that can receive free to air HD signals is a panasonic one with freesat built in and costs around £1.200...unless, like was said here before, you get sky or any of those expensive plans...

Also, most of the tv channels in  'HD' are just the same as the terrestrial ones, only upconverted to meet the resolution...

  6. You need an HD source, such as Sky+, BT Vision, an HD DVD or BluRay plyer, etc.

  7. scart and a hd composite cable (coulours: red, green, blue, white, yellow, red)  yes there is two reds not a mistake

hope this helps and everything goes okay with your hd telly =]

  8. You don't need any wires, what you do need to do is tune to a channel that is broadcasting in High Definition (HD).

  9. If you are in the UK there are only 2 ways currently to get HD -

1 - is from Sky - Pay a fortune for an HD Box and service

2 - is from Freesat - Buy a HD box (approx £149.99) and pay nothing more.

Both however need a satellite dish installed.

  10. Please be careful who you vote as best answer on this one, as there is a lot of nonsense being spouted about HD here that is just not true. Also, my answer is related to the UK only.

Firstly, to the last answer that says that just because you have an HD ready tv doesn't mean you are able to receive HD transmission is just not true. That's exactly what HD ready means, it means that the TV is able to receive a resolution higher than normal SD in the UK of 720x576. This HD resolution can vary from 1024x768 up to full HD of 1920x1080, to name a couple.

Secondly, although part of a programme that is on an HD channel may be upconverted most channels have very strict guidelines on how much of a programme can be of SD upconverted material. The majority of the programme has to be filmed in HD.

Finally, to answer your question. Really HD is not for people with a 15" tv. I'm surprise they even sell HD ready tvs this small. You really need a 32" or more to appreciate HD. That said if you don't care and still want HD, then you will need an HDMI cable to receive the best HD signal from either a Sky HD box, Virgin+ HD box, Freesat HD box or the one range of Plasma Panasonic TVs the PZ81 that has a built in HD Tuner in it, therefore no need for a separate box. It is possible to receive HD using component cables but the picture is no longer digital.

    Hope that helps!
