What is the difference between an HDD DVR and one without one? For example I'm gonna get a Sharp DV-SR3U (without HDD) Can you store recordings on it? If you can how many gigs?

  1. A real qucik research of the product shows that it records directly to a DVD disk. If you use DVDRW that should mean that you can re-record over the same disk.

I guess the big difference between that and a hard-drive version would be the capacity. With DVD you are restricted to about 4.7gig of space, where with a Hard Drive....well...100s of gigs if not higher.

The ad says it can record up to 6 hours; but that would probably result in fairly low quality.

The hard drive versions are the way to go. You can get them with either no DVD recordability or with.
