Does anybody have a reccomendation as to which is the best HDDVD upscaler to buy. I have an HD ready tv and want to be able to upscale standard programs viewed via freeview to HD as well as normal DVD disks.

  1. buy BLU RAY

it can also run HD dvd

  2. I have tried DVD-HD860 from Samsung. This is quite good and can upscale to 1080i. You should check this out too!

I use this with a 42inch plasma TV from LG.

  3. I wouldn't bother. Get an ACTUAL High-Def source, like Sky HD, or Cable, and a Blu-Ray player or PS3.

Upscaling is never going to cut the mustard, because the extra picture information just isn't there in the first place, so it won't come close to a real HD source.

  4. Don;t bother.

Toshiba have announced they are winding down HD DVD and the film companies supporting it (Warner Bros + Paramount) are switching to Blu Ray, aloning with Blockbuster etc who will stop reting them.

Spen your money on Blu Ray as HD DVD will be obselete very soon.
