HDMI, is it necessary?

Do I really need an HDMI cable for my PS3 or will I be ok with the component cables that come with it?

if you have an hdtv, it will be kick-***. seriously. look for those $12 hdmi cables on ebay and dont buy those Monster cables on futureshop/bestbuy worth $200 cause they are displaying the same signals (based on the Canadian news program Marketplace). i bought mine off ebay and it works great.

A PS3 will work fine with either component, composite, optical (for audio), or HDMI.

if u have an hdtv and u use the standard cables u will not get the true picture from those cords u need an hdmi cable to get the real picture from the ps3

Its not necessary to buy HDMI cables but you will be pleasantly surprised if you do. I have a ps3 and an HDTV that i use to play it. At first i used the normal A/V cables to play it and i thought it looked great. I decided to try some cheap 2$ HDMI cables from Amazon and WOW! what a difference! Switching out between A/V and HDMI cables on the same TV the HDMI just looked SOO much better, i would highly recommend picking up some cheap ones like i did, from what ive seen they work just as good as Monster cables.
