HDMI 1080i/p Problem?

I bought a Goodmans 32" HDTV (1080p), so I could watch my Blu-Ray movies on my PlayStation 3. I bought a proper PS3 HDMI cable with the TV, but it only outputs 1080i. Can someone please help me get full 1080p. The TV model is:

Goodmans LD3261HDFVT

Thanks.

  1. I sympathise with you as you seem to have put the effort in getting a PS3 to enjoy Blu-ray movies but unfortunately it sounds like that the shop (if that's where you got it) was one of those shops that get confused about this HD business. The other answer mentioned above is correct unfortunately, it is not a 1080p tv. It actually only has a resolution of 1366x768 and as he also states at 32" you are not going to see the benefit of your Blu-ray movies anyway at this size.

I know this may be difficult but if you can I would suggest you take this TV back (besides the contrast ratio on this Goodmans tv is bad) and get a minimum 37" TV with full HD. I'm guessing you paid around £400 for the Goodmans. For around £600 you can get a considerably better TV and then really enjoy the benefits of your HD movies.

If you need advice on HDTVs now or in the future then I would visit this site:

as they explain it all very simply and highlight the best deals around for all different needs and budgets.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Hi,

Your TV is not actually 1080p, it is capable of accepting a 1080p signal but it scales that down so it can fit on its display. It's true resolution is 1366 x 768 so it will normally work with 1080i or 720p.

I got this specification from http://www.techradar.com/products/audio-...

So it is probably best if you keep the resolution at 1080i as it will mean less scaling for your TV to take care of.

Also, with a 32" screen you will only notice the difference between 1080p and 1080i unless you are very close to the screen. You require a TV of 46" or higher to start noticing the difference, or maybe even if you have extremely sharp eyes.

So don't worry about the resolution being 1080i ;)
