Im getting this 7.1 surround sound system from amazon, and Im also might get the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player as well but do you need any HDMI Cabels for the player? In the dashboard of the Xbox 360, when you go to settings and you pick which output of high defenition you want, because since I have an old HDTV made by RCA I can only get as far as 1080i. Since I already have the Xbox 360, If I buy the player and hook it up and eveything, when I pop in a HD-DVD movie into the HD-DVD Player will it automaticly play it in 1080i resolution because I have it already set to that? Do I still need to purchase an DVI to HDMI outlet or anything like that? Oh and how would I hook up my surround sound system, to the HD-DVD Player so I could have the sound comming out in surround sound with just the picture in HD?

  1. If its an older hdtv that cant display 1080p then dont worry about the hdmi connection.  Just set the xbox to 1080i and the player will hook up to the xbox and the picture will be displayed at 1080i.  To hook it up to your sound system run a optical wire from the xbox to the receiver.  You will then get surround sound on both movies and your games.
