Does it really matter what brand I use? In quality that is.

I search online and there’s place that I can get it for like $45 and there’s places that it costs over $100. I’m thinking of ordering from this place. anyone ever order from this place?

  1. The above answer is excellent, but here is another choice for buying a cable. I just got a 7' hdmi cable for under $10 from Newegg, including shipping!

  2. Short anser -- an HDMI cable will basically work or it won't.

There are differences among HDMI cables (read the article at the link), BUT for normal short connections budget cables will give you essentially identical results to premium brands. For longer cables, or for in-wall use, go for better quality cables.

Almost any cable will probably work, but many people appear to have good results from Monoprice for short cables (HDMI 1,3, Category 2, 24 awg) and Blue Jean Cables (Pick by flexibility and application / length) for where total cable length (including any switches (e.g. an A/V receiver)) exceeds 12-15 ft.

See the links (The one to Blue Jean Cables is to their info center (interesting), but you can get to their HDMI cable page from there).

You don't ever need to buy really expensive (e.g. Monster) cables. In many cases they are no better, or even lower quality, than more moderately priced cables. Yoy are just paying for fancy packaging and the name.

    Cheers.

  3. Stick to Monoprice.  Great cables at a great value.  $45 dollars is too much.
