  1. HDMI is the High definition connection used by high definition appliances like PS3 and Blue ray/HD dvd players or High definition sky box or cable box.

DVI is a next generation VGA connection that allows connection to PC and screen.

  2. HDMI carries both audio and video. However, in order to accomodate sources (like PCs or old set-top boxes) with DVI ports (that only carry video), most TVs have at least one HDMI port with an extra audio input.

This allows you to connect to the TV via a DVI-to-HDMI cable for video and a separate audio cable for audio.

  3. its the port on your tv - it means you can plug in either hd ready games consoles or dvd players or computer towers into that slot. hope this helps!
