HDMI adaptor?

if i bought a HDMI adaptor to plug in the DVI input to use a regular HDMI cable, will i be able to get sound and video? or just the video

You will only be able to use it for the video. DVI is only a Video interface.

If your using the HDMI to your Receiver first, you will be able to use it with audio. Just make sure your Receiver is HDMI audio ready (some receiver don't process HDMI audio IE Pioneer's VSX-1017TX).
