Question:

HDMI and specks of snow?

I have a 42 inch LCD HDTV connected to my cable box using a HDMI cable. The picture has been great for about the last 9 months, no problems, but lately I have been getting light snow over the picture. It isn't major, but there are small white dots over the picture. The sound still comes in perfectly fine and the video looks great beneath it. I switched over to my other input (component) and it does not have the same problem. I unplugged and re-plugged the HDMI cable from both the cable box and TV and no dice, still light flurries. Anyone have thoughts? Should I just buy a new HDMI cable and try it?

  1. Snow in HDMI connections is some sort of sync loss causing the tv to "fill in the blanks" with snow. Try a new cable. Component cables are analog and wont give you the same symptoms. If you still have snow in the video, you will have to try a new receiver/cable box.
