Question:

HDMI cable hookup...grrrr... Help!??

Ok. So I just bought a new 50" Panasonic Plasma tv.. along with one of those 1080 up-converting dvd players.. we bought one of those HDMI cords and from reading through the misc instructions.. i looks like i should only need the HDMI cable. .since it does audio and video.. but I plug it into my tv's HDMI input and switch the tv to that input.. i'm not getting anything. am I hooking this up wrong?? help!! thanks!!

  1. Agreed go into the DVD players menu and select the correct output.  HDMI.  You can do this by hooking up a simple composite cable to the TV and DVD player just to get things started, once you have selected HDMI out, you should get picture and sound from appropriate TV input.  Then you can just unhook the composite and your good to go.


  2. Are you sure that the dvd player is has hdmi output enabled.

    Plug in the dvd player using the regular rca and renable it on the player. Some players have a switch on the back.

    There is no HDCP since this is a dvd player.

    I have a older 50" panasonic LCD (before they made plasmas) and it works fine with hdmi, dvi....auto negotiates the resolution.
