HDMI connections?

Question

i have a hd television, hd dvd recorder and hd cable wires. I want to connect them with a HDMI cable. Do i have to use 2 hdmi wires to connect both the dvd recorder and the cable to the tv , which has 2 hdmi ports (1 and 2)? I want to be able to record in 1080 , which all my devices support.

If you have dish network click on the icon that says TV or DVR and just plug up you color cords( the red, yellow, and white cables) to your dish network reciever, if you have directv just take your HD color cords and plug them in the back and then go to AV1 or AV2 and click SELECT on your remote and then turn your remote to directv and then you should be able to do the rest on your own.
