Question:

HDMI help!?

Okay, I have a movie theater, I plug the HDMI into my PS3, and into the receiver into HDP/DVD (or something like that), than when I turn PS3 on it shows the Playstation 3 opening screen with the bell noise and "Playstation 3" to the right, than it says HDMI detected, YES OR NO

If I hit no, it moves on with 480i into how I normally play it, if I hit yes hoping for 720p(which is the highest the projecter's manuel says the projector can go) the screen goes baclk and nothing happens?

Can someone PLEASE help. If you really want to help me and have anymore questions that could help you assist me much more easily, please email : Simseth93@aol.com or instant message with AIM: Simseth93

Thank you so much in advance

  1. It sounds like the HDMI "handshake" is failing.

Briefly, HDMI is an encrypted connection which, to allow an HD digital signal to pass, must detect an HDCP compliant device at each end.

I suspect the projector is not HDCP compliant, and the HDMI cable is cutting off the signal (hence the black screen). If so, you can't use HDMI.

It doesn't appear likely, given that the HDMI cable is being detected, but you might want to try a different HDMI cable in case yours is defective.

  2. Make sure your ps3 isnt trying to send out a 1080i or p signal that your projector cant handle.
