I have a TV with an HDMI input, and a graphics card in my PC that is DVI and I also have a DVI cable. If I bought something like this: (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000ZZSQ38/sr=8-3/qid=1218796456/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1218796456&sr=8-3&seller=), would I be able to see my PC on my TV?

  1. HDMI uses same digital signals as DVI.  However, HDMI includes digital audio, but DVI does not.  So if you want PC sound from your TV, you would also need an audio cable to go from speaker or headphone jack on the PC to whatever audio input is on the TV.

However, it would be better to use a DVI to HDMI cable instead of the adapter, because the adapter to use your DVI cable is a lot of weight to hang on an HDMI socket.

  2. I've never tried a DVI to HDMI converter, but supposedly it should work.  Have you tried hooking up your computer to the TV using VGA?  If a TV has HDMI, more than likely it would have VGA for hooking up a PC.
