I have now purchased a PS3 and i have a full HD tv.

I have been researching the web on alot of HDMI cables for the best peformance i can get, for a sensible price.

I will be using the ps3 for both a mixture of games and blue ray player.

My QUESTION is what is the difference between these HDMI cables -

  1. Go with the PS3 cable for short runs.

There are a lot of companies that make $$$$ by taking an $8 cable, and selling it for $89 by creating fear and expectation that  cables are the important part of your system.

This is not true, but the marketing departments have done such a good job that we constantly have to reassure people.

There ARE issues with HDMI cables, usually with long runs. But for basic 1080 movies & games for short runs, go with the cheaper cables.

  2. DON'T get the MONSTER cable...you're getting ripped off by them.....

All you really need is a set of HDMI cables that have the HDMI 1.3a rating on them.....that's provides the HIGHEST bitrate you will ever need to get the highest definition should they ever increase the resolution of TV sets in the future.....

But for right now, the other cable will work perfectly, and it's pretty inexpensive too....affordable.
