HDMI sound?

I have an xbox 360 and DVD player plugged into the two HDMI inputs to this receiver, and then HDMI from the receiver to my TV.However, when playing a DVD or the Xbox, no sound comes from the speakers, it ports it through to the TV, so sound comes out of the TV speakers. can this receiver not play audio from the HDMI, or is there a fix?
