HDMI switch quality?

I bought a 5 port hdmi switch on ebay. Will there be any loss of quality??? Also, my amp has hdmi out and in. Should I connect everything to the switch/and the switch to the amp, to keep the audio. Or should I go to amp/amp to TV, and then run optical audio??????

  1. Some switches are pretty good (Radiant, xTreme).  There could be some bad ones - but I did not hear much complaining.

Connect it and see for yourself.

Try to minimize the number of switches - connect as many quality sources directly to receiver as possible - the rest via the switch.

If you have HDMI 1.3a compatible players (HD or Blu-Ray) and reciever - then HDMI is definitely better.  Depending on what your source equipment can output via HDMI, you might be better off to use coax/optical.
