  1. HDMI is Pure Digital Signal

    Component is Analog signal

HDMI will always give you the best image.

It's up to your TV after that, if it's not up to the job of displaying the Pure Digital...

  2. HDMI is probably encoded with copy protection whereas the component video isn't. That's probably what the problem is. Otherwise an component cable can carry an HD signal.

For the surround sound out of the PS3 you should be able use audio out from the TV, or from the PS3s audio out jack.

    Hope that helps@

  3. here, you decide

i have HDMI and had component. compared both of them and HDMI wins because it offers sharper and better color picture

also HDMI is digital and component is analog so that TV has to convert analog signals to digital in order for it to show up on the screen so this means HDMI is faster without degrading

my friend uses component because he doesnt have a HDMI port in his TV and we watched a blu-ray movie and it looked like a normal DVD, when i watch movies on mine, its stunning and the picture appears to pop out a lot more

  4. HDMI will be Hi-Def,

do not think the other will be.
