I have a 50" panasonic flat screen tv. I bought it 8 years ago but it does say HDTV 1080i in the front. I just bought a ps3 mainly because of blueray. But the tv doesn't have an HDMI input and i need one to get good quality. Does anyone know if i can convert the HDMI cable into a video cable. Can anyone tell me where to get the product? maybe a site or something.

  1. is their component at least?

This is still new tech, I didn't even know they had hdtv 8years ago.

  2. EDIT: I just notice you said the TV has a DVI input;  You CAN get HDMI to DVI adapters (you will need to use the separate digital audio output as well).  This will give you the same result as straight HDMI.  However, since your TV is 8 years old, it will not accept 1080p from the PS3 (you will have to select 1080i output).  The improvement over component will be minimal.

    For adapter cables, see http://www.monoprice.com/products/produc...

There is no way to (legally) convert HDMI to analog video.  Your PS3 has component (red/blue/green) outputs that will carry 1080i--use that into your TV.  You will get good results.  HDMI at 1080p would look better, but you would have to look hard to see the difference.

  3. I doubt your TV supports HDCP over DVI, so you may just have to stick with component. I believe Blu-Ray can do up to 1080i over component, so it shouldn't make much of a difference, particularly since you're just going analog->analog. Don't worry about it, just stick with component.

And there are plenty of products to convert HDMI/DVI into analog video, like HDfury for example.
