HDTV Cable box w/ an SDTV?

I am thinking about buying an HD cable box. but i wanna use the cable box on my SDTV. So i was wondering if the HD cable box would be able to work on my SDTV?

most cable boxes have multiple outputs digital and analog.

and you should be able to set the resolution down to 480i.

so yes it should work.
