HDTV: How much better is 720p compared to Standard Definition???

Is it worth getting a PS3 if I have a 1280x720 resolution Sony Bravia LCD Rear Projector??? :) Thanks

Very definitely yes.  720p can look quite good;  Fox and ABC broadcast in 720p and their HD pictures are excellent.

i have a 32" bravia. and it was only supposed to be a 720, but it's telling me i have 1080P. at any rate, 720P is about 1000 times beter than standard def. though you may not get 100% of the picture quality off the blu-ray movies, most of the games that are released on both the 360 and the PS3 are rated at 720P anyway. so you can rest assured  in getting your PS3 that it will look great.

my stepdad has a 56 inch hdtv up to 1080i with a PS3, and I had my 360. If its for bluray movies, well you wont be getting your full moneys worth. But as for games there isnt that much of a difference that I can tell between 1080i and 720. There was a difference, but not enough to warrant going out and buying another tv, not even for 500$. Now I've never seen a game run in 1080p so that might be a different story...

I recommend buying your PS3 and enjoy.
