Question:

HDTV - I wonder if anyone else has had this problem!?

Comcast came in and installed their HDTV box today. We had their basic cable package, and since we bought a new HDTV, we thought we'd get the box rather than an antenna. They did not tell us, however, that some of the channels we were getting would disappear due to the new HDTV box. Also, two of the channels included in the basic cable package disappeared. I called Comcast after the installer left to tell them about this stuff. They said the public broadcasting channels 10.1, 10.2, etc, were over the air channels they had no control over but would no longer be accessible when their HDTV box is hooked up. It does not make any difference if I change the input to the TV, those channels are still inaccessible. They also said that two channels that have so far been a part of our basic package are now in the next package up, but I have my doubts, as they said this happened quite some time ago. Anyway, does anyone know how I could get back the old stuff and keep the new box?

  1. Connect a HDMI cable between the box and the HDTV if not already connected that way.  Or you can use a Component Video and Stereo Audio cable (5 RCA to RCA connections).  If you do not have one of these already you are not watching in High Definition anyway.

Use a splitter between the cable wall outlet and the cable box and send the other output of the splitter to the HDTV antenna/cable input.  This way the stations you tune in with the TV tuner are bypassing the box and the HDMI or Component input gets you the channels from the box.

  2. Sounds like you should be on the phone instead of the Internet.

DEMAND what you expect..You definitelt pay enough for it.  Comcast is the worst!!!

  3. sounds like a comcastic problem. if it doesn't get resolved or you are not satisfied launch a EECB
