We have a basic cable amenities from our apartment and we didn't avail the cable from comcast because there is a channel signal when we insert the co-axial cable from our TV. But I am not satisfied of Standard Definition, is there anything that we can buy just to have a high definition channel from free cable amenities? I think its a basic cable from comcast because our landlord pays for it (water & sewer and cable).

  1. You can buy an hd b cable box (legally) but you have to let Comcast know and they will charge you for the services that you choose. It's actually a better idea to rent the box from Comcast for about $8/month. They will also charge you for HD and any other services you want. How the billing is done in your situation, I'm not sure about. I am sure that they can do it though. Call 1-800-comcast and ask.

  2. Go into your HDTVs menu and have it scan for digital cable channels. Some people have found that their basic cable includes some local HD broadcasts.

If your HDTV can't find any, then there is nothing you can buy to get them without going through your cable company.

If you can get over the air TV with an antenna, you might get some local HDTV programing through a TV antenna.
