have a new digital panasonic tv and so now I can get local channels in digital mode but the rest are ie cnn,fx, mtv etc are still analog. My question is, in 2009, next year when all tv's go digital, will the other channels in comcast standard cable change to digital or will I have to change my subscription to be able to see them?

  1. Most cable systems have agreed to keep at least some cable channels in analog and ALL broadcast network stations that way until at least 2012.

You will need to subscribe to the digital tier if you want them in digital NOW.

You are mistaken if you think that ALL TV must be in digital format in February 2009. ONLY Over-the-air broadcast TV stations must stop analog transmissions.  (Low Power Stations and translator stations are exempt)

Cable/ and Satellite systems can continue analog for some time.  It will be market forces that will force them to go all digital.  Look at how many analog TV's there are in existence.

  2. Anything you can pick up disconnected from cable and with antennas you'll be able to pick up disconnected from comcast on your new tv.  I believe all those other channels you list are cable channels, and you need a cable or satellite receiver and subscription.

  3. Good question for your provider .. NOT TO BE RUDE. Sory no help..
