Why aren't there more TV's with a built in hard drive? I don't think I would expect a lot, maybe be able to record a couple of 2 hour shows. Mostly I just want it to be able to pause and rewind (which wouldn't take up much space). searching the internet I see LG made some plasmas in 2006 for the UK with hard drives. with over the air digital, I would think somebody would do this more often. Do you know of any HDTV's (1080P) that can do this?

  2. because there are already stuff that exists for recording shows (such as tivo)

  3. When you start to do this - it raises issue with copy protection which is a big deal with Hollywood right now.  And it adds a mechanical/moving part to a device that is solid-state right now.

Otherwise it would be a trivial challenge to simply spool the HDMI data onto a hard drive.
