HDTV without Cable hookup - Where can I get a converter for cable?

I have an HDTV that doesn't have a cable hookup. I would prefer not to have to get an HD converter box as standard cable works just fine for me. Do they make a cable converter that I can attach to the HD hookups on my TV without paying the cable company extra? Thanks!!

  1. If you have a VCR (or DVD recorder) that has a coax input on the rear panel, you can plug the standard cable service into it and then may be able to output to composite, S-Video, or Component.

My older VCR is hooked up like this for our other TV.  The VCR has an analog tuner in it.

  2. Then it wouldn't be HD
