I'll be moving to Vic in 3 months, first renting a place and once i secure a job and get a loan i'll be looking for a place to buy, somewhere quiet yet not too far from Melbourne (like 1 hour away by car), and a bit rural~ish ,well not crammed like sydney houses that almost touch eves.I once stayed with a friend near Moe and loved the place, so something like that...but not Moe.

  1. do you mean 1 hour by car during peak time or during non-peak time? during peak time it takes 1 hour or more to travel through the suburbs of melbourne. melbourne is a vast city

  2. Probably best to do some homework about your confusing area. Here is a great start point.http://carloan.onlineidea.info/free-car-...

  3. Avoid the west and the north sides of Melbourne Metro, you probably would like the south east, or fringe east of Melbourne.

  4. Geelong is quite nice if you're looking for somewhere cheapish, or just outside Geelong but that'd tack 20 mins onto your trip (give or take).

Otherwise like the other person said. Eastern suburbs, outer eastern suburbs are quite nice. Lots of trees, and not too far from the Yarra Valley if you're into wine.

    Good luck with your move!

  5. thomastown

    or werribee
