Okay so I can set and bump. But I can't spike to save my life and my serve isn't very consistent. I was on the 7th grade team last year but they don't work nearly as hard as the 8th grade team. I'm real cool wit my coaches but I get nervous easily. Any kina advice or strategies would help. I also don't know how the tryouts are gonna work. 7th and 8th grade are completly different at my skool. Please Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Practice spiking a ball into a wall for the next two weeks which should improve your spikes and your serving.  Also, when you serve, to get more power and help it across the net, try hitting the ball with the bone between your wrist and hand.  Not your wrist, but just above it.  Just a suggestion.

  2. You can practice spiking a ball at a wall. Most people spike the ball with an open hand in order to get more coverage of the ball. That doesn't work for be so i spike with a closed hand, try that. It might work for you. Also if you can't spike, you can always tip the ball!! Oh and push ups with strengthen your arms. With more strength in your arms you can spike the ball harder.

Ok theres also something that athlete do, which is mental visualization!! Imagine yourseld spiking the ball. going through all the steps and spiking the ball exactly how you want it. Your brain will imitate the movements you think of without you even realizing it! Believe me it works!!! Try it before you go to sleep everyday

  3. You don't always need to spike. Only if you are a hitter, in which case

you might need to jump higher, or make sure your setter knows where to set the ball for you (closer or farther away from the net.)

My serves aren't amazing either, but if you practice more often, they will get better. Try to keep your hand open, and get a GOOD TOSS. My tosses are always what makes my serves bad.

    GOOD LUCK !!

  4. ok if you can find anything that is as high or close to as high as the volleyball net then you can take a tennis ball and practice your footwork (tennis ball in hand) and when you jump up flick your wrist like you're spiking the ball and through the ball down. you can also lift weights to help with arm strength but definitely practice footwork. i had the same problem too.

  5. Here's what they look for

    skill level (not everyone hits)

    coachability

    Attitude

Effort (run your butt off and never let the ball drop: run after it and hit the ground if you need to) really makes you stick out

Communication: Give words of encouragement and always call the ball) give lots of high fives: Even though you are shy: ask them for help on techniques in a drill :it makes them remember you.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE dont get down on yourselft

            GOOD LUCK
