Alright, I've had the new mouse for a little over 2 weeks in Quarentine. and I notice she sneezes a lot, and I've even taken out the bedding and just put newspaper because maybe she was allergic to aspen? when i bought her at the store i didn't notice she was sick, i refuse to return her, and i lost the receipt. well anyways the checkup cost $37, lowest price i found. someone told me to give her a piece of an orange for vitamin c, but she's even more congested, so i'm going to take her in an hour, what should i expect? :[ (PS i'm taking more than $37 for meds, etc). and i dont wanna get ripped off or anything.

HURRRY PLEASE

  1. oranges are bad!!! never give them to mice!!! they are toxic!!!!!!

Anyways the vet will do a phsyical checking her all over and stuff. then she will prescribe some meds. maybe baytril?

Also I think you should get her a buddy. mice will become depressed if they're alone. they're very social creatures

  2. If your little mouse has a respitory infection, she will be put on an antibiotic. Don't worry, the meds don't cost much, it's the examination. You're doing a good thing by not returning the poor girl. Listen to her breathing; it should be relatively fast but still clear. If she sounds crackly, like her lungs are plastic bags, that's not a good sign, and probably a respitory infection. Let's just hope she has a case of the "new home sneezies" and will get over it soon... keep a close watch on her. You're in my prayers!

  3. The vet will do a physical exam, will listen to her lungs, weigh her, and most likely will prescribe an antibiotic cocktail. The antibiotics are not expensive and should clear up what sounds like an upper respiratory infection. That price is very reasonable, but did you check to be sure this vet is experienced treating exotics? If the vet does not know how to dose the meds for an animal her size, insist that he or she look it up. Mice can be treated for infection. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

  4. You should go to the vet. It's safer, anyhow. Who cares about money right now? The poor thing needs help. GOOD LUCKIE!
