I need to take a Physical Agility test for the Police Department. I just started working on my building my cardio ability back up after getting out of shape. I have only been using my new ellipticle and stretching for a couple of weeks, but not very consistent. Never been a fan of running due to feet problems, but I did plan on getting into walking / running now that I have inserts that help, but have not started yet. Now, all of a sudden I got a notice that I need to run 1.5 miles in 15 minutes. I am a hard worker and know I can do it. I am willing to push hard, but need a solid routine. Any help is greatly appreciated, please!

  1. 1.5 in 15 minutes isn't that bad.  You should be able to build up to that fairly easily if you consistently run.  It breaks down to a pace of 6m per hour.  So why don't you hop on a treadmill at that speed and see how comfortable you are.

There are two common different ways to build up to your running goal:

    1) Run for a shorter distance at your desired pace, adding more distance after every week.

    2) Run 1.5m (or longer if you can) at a slower pace and add more speed to your run throughout your 30 days of training.

  2. That is 10 minute miles. You can do it, just focus.

  3. go to runnersworld you'll find what you need and more. Good luck.

  4. This shouldnt be difficult . Go to a track and run 1.5 miles every other day for a week.. Since your starting just run jog the straights and walk the curves for the first week.Week 2 run,jog 2.5 except walk a lap run a lap. Week threeJog 2 walk one for a total of 9laps. Week 4 try to jog a mile at 10minute pace on monday. rest aday then try to jog 1.5. Then rest two days and then take your test. What a breeze, you never new you could run like this.
