Ok, so I'm like getting 6 teeth pulled tuesday and i really hate needles and BLOOD! I cannot handle blood! Like i will freak out and hyperventilate and have a panic attack if my mouth bleeds a lot. Also I Can't deal with pain... very low pain tolerance. Anybody who has had teeth out or knows a lot about it who can walk me through the WHOLE process? Like from when before you go to the oral surgeon through the process and like after? Thanks SO much! 10 points to the most helpful longest best answer!! <3<3<3

  1. don't worry!

believe i was freaking out when i had to get my tooth pulled.

what happens is you sit in the chair the dentist assistant comes to prep you for the process.

my dentist gave me a cotton swab with a numbing substance.

your dentist will probably give you a numbing needle, but don't worry it really dosnt hurt that bad!

your dentist will either take your teeth out by hand or with a plier.

you will feel slight pressure and there will be blood but your dentist will put a lot of gauze there to stop the bleeding.

my dentist gave me a whole bunch of gauze and told me to keep putting it near the tooth until it stopped bleeding.

don't worry! just relax you will be ok

  2. After your procedure you will be sore when the freezing wears off, about 4 hours. Your dentist will give you pain medication to take (tylenol 3). If the pain is unbearable you could take one T3 and one advil. Place ice on your cheek to reduce the swelling, get lots of rest that day. I'm sure you will have sutures so that reduces the bleeding. You will taste blood in your mouth for the day and it will ooze a bit but don't be alarmed it is not as bad as you imagine. You can eat soft foods after the four hours or whenever freezing wears off (eggs, mashed potatoes, smoothies, popsicles etc). If you smoke, avoid it for at least 48 hours. You should be fine to drink anything but no alcohol.

No rinsing, as rinsing will dislodge the blood clot and you will actually continue to bleed! You want to keep the blood clot in place so it heals quicker and stops the bleeding. Just ask for alot of gauze, keep biting on that and it will stop the bleeding quicker. The following morning you can gently rinse with saltwater. You can gently brush too. Good luck

  3. Just don't worry. You will be in the hands of a qualified dentist and just have faith in him. Extraction is not a painful procedure. They just give a small prick and it takes care of the pain. After that you just have to open the mouth and your dentist will take care of your tooth and you will not feel anything. At the time of extraction, try to think about positive things. After extraction, the numbness is for 1-2 hours and it is better if you donot eat and drink anything durig that time and after that follow the instructions of the dentist carefully. Some complete rest afterwards and do not eat anything hard and donot smoke. The real time is post extraction as lot of complications can happen due to non following of instructions. 4. Relax RELAX RELAX~ you will be fine. Just don't look at the needle when he puts in in your mouth. I will feel like a little pric and then you will numb up really well. Afterward, you will feel some pulling sensations, but no pain at all. The discomfort won't come until after about 2 hours after the meds wear off. make sure you have some strong tylenol and get some bed rest. you won't be able to eat anything hard for a couple days and you won't be able to drink cold or hot drinks . stay with warm tea and soft foods and you'll be right within 2-3 days!

  5. Here's a technique that I learnt to help me get through my panic attacks quickly...

I simply repeat the words 'cream cake' over and over in my head as quickly as I can without stopping. You could use any word or words you like really but that's what I chose (because I like cream cakes). It apparently works because it doesn't give your brain time to process the panicky thoughts and so helps you to relax again. Seems strange I know ... but it works for me!

There's also a free ebook that I found really useful called 'Get Rid of Panic and Anxiety for Good'. If you want to take a look you can find it at: http://curepanicattacks.premiergold.info... Even though I got it for free it has helped me absolutely loads!

  6. Don't worry! I got my teeth pulled out too! I was sooooo scared, but its only a few seconds that you feel the pressure. They will make your mouth numb so you wont feel a lot of the pain. Dont worry about the blood its not a big deal.
