  1. If we are talking about males, riding horses is something most guys want to try at least once.  There are usually a few ranches that will have horses for hire and people to help. It's fun, and an activity that requires some focus.  They won't want to look like chickens most likely so will have a go and will find that dominating a horse, or the act of trying, can be a humbling experience.  The interaction with animals can be a positive life changing experience for some troubled young people and bring out a normally hidden nurturing side.

Anything that requires energy and muscle would be good, and if you can have trained experts helping,  rock-climbing would be something they would want to attempt.  Hiking could seem too tame to keep them occupied, but if you can have overnight trips, a hike to a mountain lake with camping and even fishing would be something they'd probably like to do.

  2. Orienterring

    Pony Trekking

    Camping

    Canoeing

    Caveing

Did all this as a teen in the Wye valley.

Things I would have added, in the evenings when it got boring.

    Personal Development

    Confidence Talks

    NLP

    Money Management

Carreer Building ( not working on a building site, or at McDoanalds, I mean UNI/Open Uni how to get at least £20 an hour)

    Drug Awareness

To motivate tell them they need no money whatsoever and dress down.

  3. i foster prob teens, they love to grab a bin bag or equivalent and slide down the malvern hills - i motivate them by joining in.

depending on ur energy levels this could/or not be a good idea.

we have also made carts and tried them out to see whose works best.

the south cerney water park offers lots of water sports - if your close - if not maybe you are near a similar venue.

cycling has been popular, with the promise of stopping at a country pub for lunch.

in fact anything that involes energy i find is an enticement to join in.

im not sure if this is the kind of activity your looking for but i wish you well and hope this has helped.

talks walks and nature trails have not worked for my lot

  4. A petting zoo, a working dairy farm or chicken farm, sledding, climbing up high snowbanks in a safe area. You don't say what type of climate you are in, so not easy to come up with much. Sometime mentoring is good; it gives them an eo boost to help, self esteem and makes thhe other child feel special too. Summertime is good for berry and fruit picking and then enjoying the sweet results. Discussing the activity before going, highlighting parts of it are good motivators, too.

  5. Hawk Conservancy, Andover

    Gower Peninsular, Wales

Witches' Museum Bourton on the Water

    various cycleways. nature trails

    narrow-guage railways

    slate quarry museums

    tin mines

    Eden Project
