Venice: La Taverna San Trovaso: 0415203703. This is close to the Accademia. The prices are affordable and the food always fresh. I like the grilled eel or the cuttle fish in its ink with polenta. Order a carafe of the house prosecco - you can't go wrong.

If you go over the weekend then you are best to reserve. Ah, even the pizza is good.

Finally - the Testiere is indeed a very good place. But it's expensive.
