They say to put down that ant dust and the ants will take it back to their nests and kill off the whole colony. I must have 10 million colonies!!! They go away for a while and come back somewhere else. Today they were in one of my bathrooms and they were coming from the overflow hole in my sink. Whats up with that???

  1. That's how they are. I have the same problem every year there is no solution for this problem. I just keep on putting Raid or any other poison I can find at the store. This will keep on happening I was told that if you get a professional that they will go away, but I really don't believe it. The best thing to do is to spray poison around your property and inside your house. Try to use Raid that smells like Lemon so your house won't smell like poison. That's the best solution I have found and they still get inside my rooms. Good Luck

  2. Lisa S you do seem to have a problem. Ants will on continue to go where they find a source of food, though I'm not sure what they would find in the bathroom, they're probably just exploring. Apart from making every effort to deprive them of food, like sugar, juice, Jams, fruits etc, I would be inclined to track their movements, to try to find the nest, and them pour BOILING water into it, try that in the overflow of the sink .When they go away for a while, it's not the dust that does, no, no, they are busy pro-creating the next frontline army.........just in case

  3. Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar and stick it by your sink. The ants will come and pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

  4. I like the boiling water and cornmeal suggestions. I live in FL and every time it rains - the ants come in. It is a fact of life and it rains a lot in the summers. Even though they are just exploring - you should make sure you don't have anything that keeps them in your place(i.e. food, sweets, even perfumes in your bathroom). They best trick is to spray around all windows, door frames, floor boards, and any other opening in your home. That way, if they do come in, they don't stay for long.

  5. I don't know where you live, but if it's dry there, they're searching for water. You can try putting down some (self-rising) cornmeal, keep it dry.  They can't digest it and they take it back to the colony. The cornmeal swells in their stomachs and they die.  The whole colony will die. If you have a large infestation you might need to take drastic measures. Spray with an ant insecticide. At least to minimize them, then use the cornmeal from time to time when you see a few. Hope this helps.  :)
