  1. I just got my standard grade history results today and I got a 1 so I hope I can help. The main things you have to remember for the exam are : New benifits/drawback of the railways, reasons for immigration/emmigration and suffragette tactics. For the railways you need to talk about how it allowed people to travel, brought fresh food to the cities, made jobs but you have to mention a drawback like the effect it had on the stagecoach industry. For population changes talk about people coming to scotland for a better life, the irish potatoe famine etc and for people emigrating talk about bettr life, more jobs etc. Always bring in both immigration and emmigration so its a balanced answer. And the suffragettes, talk about hunger strikes, emily davidson, acid on golf greens, petitions etc. And don't worry the school go over it all again around march
