HELP!!! Birthday party ideas! (trying to post in different categories)?

Ok it's my moms 50th & we're not going with the traditional over the hill! I figured since we're having it catered with mexican food & mariachis we could go with a fiesta theme!

So far this is what I was thinking for decorations (white)table covers with a sarape table runner, a sombrero & maracas for a centerpiece, and personalized votive candles. Maybe cut out banners (white) and hanging laterns. It's gonna be outside, both friends and family for dinner & then drinks from like 8pm on!

So I thought to get sort of a tear that a** up (donkey) pinata for the adults! A not so traditional gag gift! I thought to get some sample lube, maybe shots of pucker in plasic bottles, and then coupons for stuff like...estrogen pills, hair dye, viagra, & icy hot!!! I think it'll be funny to see them bust open the pinata (probably with a cane) & have coupons fly everywhere!

My question is can u think of any other decorations, coupons or where to get them besides newspapers and online(take too long)?

If you want a cake why not do a sombrero....Use a Large round cake for the bottom and the Wilton stand up doll pan for the tall part of the sombrero. If you have a lot of extra cake you can always send it home with guests. If you don't want that much cake you could cover a LARGE round styrofoam circle with plastic wrap or foil and simply ice it that way the only cake would be the top part. You could use the premade icing tubes to get the strings and colored sugars and sprinkles for the decorations on it.

You could always make your own coupons and print them out. You'd get multiples fast that way though they wouldn't be 'valid' at the store. It gives you the option of being creative with what the coupons are for too. Maybe use a business card template to get pages that you could easily clip apart.

You should try adding in different colors besides white.Put in like cactuses and giant flowers like lillies.Make it look like a quiencenardera but for your 50 yrs old mother.
