HELP! Braces removal question?

Okay, I am getting my braces removed in 3 weeks, that is my next appointment, and I am very excited. The woman at the front desk schedualed the appt. to be around 90 minutes long possibly longer but I'm not sure. I was wondering how long does it truly take to get the braces off? Not getting the glue and stuff done but just the actual braces? I was thinking maybe like 15 minutes and the rest would be improvements to my smile and cleaing up. Also, i would appreciate it if anyone had any comments about how much they liked/disliked their teeth afterward (just want to see how most people react after.) Thank you very much!xxo

  1. well, when i got my braces off, it took a while...the getting off wasn't that long...but then the orthodontists had to like, make a retainer for u...i got them taken off in the morning, and i had to go back in the afternoon to get the retainer...it took a minute...but i LOVE my teeth...i absolutely ADORE them...u'll get good results if u listened to ur orthodontist while having braces

  2. It doesn't take very long... but its the molding that takes a while.

  3. congrats. just got mine on :(

    acing really badly.

anyways, my mates got all theirs off and when they did it took about half an hour to take them off them another 20-30 minutes shaping and getting the glue off them.

i think it could take up to that long becasue you have to get the retainer shaped aswell so it could take that long.

i suppose it all takes upon how badly your teeth were in the first place aswell...

good luck anyways and i can't wait to get mine off and i have only had them a couple of days :(

    xo

  4. I think I got mine off all at the same time really. Doesnt take 90 mins Im sure..several years ago but Im sure it doesnt take that long. Why you gotta important date or something?? HAHA..JJ. Plus ask your doc how long it will be til you get your retaner..dont want to wait long at all like couple days tops..cause your teeth will move back quickly. Happened to me. I loved my teeth afterwards..it took my stupid doc 2 weeks to get my retaner to me, I had gorgeous, straight teeth for about a week and I loved them, I was so confident..then they moved..retainer didnt hardly fit at all, but I tried wearing it to possible stop them..helped but...not perfect. Yuor gonna love them when your done..get teeth whitening strips to wear after too..may have spots thats if your doc doesnt include that in the with the whole procedure.

  5. I haven't got all my braces off yet but I have had some removed. It doesn't take that long. Maybe 20-30 minutes at most. I think maybe she was just taking into effect there may be things that need to be done and other things like that. I'm sure your teeth with look beautiful.

  6. Congratulations, I was really excited when I got mine off too.

Taking the braces off does not take long at all. It seemed like they just snapped right off. Then they scrape and scrape at that glue, which got kind of annoying. Then the doctor took a drill type thing and shaped my teeth and made em smoothe. That wasn't bad at all.

Then I got got my retainer, here's where the story gets sad.

The retainer was so unbelievably painful and uncomfortable. It was worse than the braces. Don't get alarmed, I think it was a s***w up on my orthondists part.

So, I eventually ended up not wearing it as much as I should have and my teeth have shifted. I have to get braces again:(

But, I was so happy when I saw my teeth after the braces got off because my teeth were so bad beforehand.

You're going to be really happy and excited, just remember to wear the retainer or you'll really regret it.

Oh, and all in all, I'd say it took a half hour to 90 mins just like she said.

  7. For me, it took around 30 minutes, then 15 minutes for the glue and polishing.  I think they scheduled it longer because afterwards, they like to take pictures, make X-rays to check that your roots are healthy, and adjust your retainer and determine if it fits correctly.  I doubt it will take the full 90 minutes scheduled.  I think they simply scheduled it so that the ortho is not rushed.

    Congratulations!
