  1. if you've tld them more than 3x it's the wrong # take my number out and they keepcllng you. youcan sue them and get some $$$.

  2. I had those calls & I kept changing my # but the creditors kept finding me tho I kept low profile. Finally, I cald my ph comp back & they finally told me about a special free block they offer their cust. I got my # blocked & haven't had a call since.

  3. Easiest is call the phone company, explain the problem and change your number.  Any other way will require hours of work of your time.

  4. You need to find out who exactly is calling you. Get their address and send them a "Cease and Desist" letter. Once they receive this letter, they will back off or take a chance of being sued. By law they are not supposed to harrass you. Here is a sample letter you can download and modify.

  5. The original debtor has vanished...and these people will continue "skip tracing" activity forever unless you take aggressive action.

Next time they call, read the following statement:

Pursuant to [your state] state law, this is to inform you that this phone call is being recorded. If you do not consent to being recorded, you need to terminate this call. Pursuant to [your state] state law, continuation of this phone call after officially being informed that it is being recorded implies consent to be recorded.  Your debtor does not live here and I have no indebtedness with your firm. Your collection activities are in violation of the law and this recording will be used to pursue Fair Debt Collection Practice Act violations in a court of law.

    --------------------------------------...

If you can get their address, Send them a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt stating:

Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, cease all verbal communications with me about this alleged debt.

  6. Get caller ID and do not answer unless you recognize the number. Most of the collection agencies have blocked numbers that will not show up.
