i got a bank account when i was 18 and it was a student checking account with only a debit card. first time i ever had one. i did well then i got fired from my job. with only 20.00 or so left on my card and i needed gas. it showed online that i had that amount for 3 weeks, now i know i was in fault because i should have checked my check book for the amount but thats beside the point. i only went over 20.00 and the bank charged me 32.95 for it since i didnt know i had been charged for a while & couldnt pay the cost, they doubled that cost and kept doing so up untill i owe now 300.00. since there was no way in h**l i could pay that by the end of that week, they sent it to credit collections. and so i was suspended for 5 years, at age 21 now, i have only 2 years left. but i cannot accsess a bank account anywhere because of the suspension, and so i cannot even check my credit history or even pay them off without a credit card. i also have a very large hospital bill of 20,000.00

  1. have u tried bank of america second chance banking. u can go to a locate branch. most credit collection will nego a settlement and you can mail in a money order. that don't sound right its sounds like con.

capitol one have a prepaid visa card

  2. 1.  If you are in the US you "Do Not Need A Credit Card" to get your credit report.

    a.  Any time you have applied for credit and been turned down you have the right to get a free credit report (for up to 30 days)

    b.  Free site to get all 3 credit reports:

    https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

    2.  Could no one help you out of the "over draft issue"?

    3.  If you need a "credit card" to do anything you may want to look into the "pre-paid" ones.

    4.  I'm taking it the $20,000 hospital bills are from you not having (or having limited) insurance during the birth of your child.

Some of the things you don't mention are:

    1.  Do you have a job?

    2.  Exactly what are you wanting to do to solve this?  Please if you are considering "Bankruptcy" avoid it as much as possible.  You have seen what this "suspension" has cost you and it is only for 5 years.  Bankruptcy stays with you for double this.

Have you worked out a "payment schedule" on any of your current bills?  If you are making "good faith" payments, most places will work with you.

I can't suggest anything else right now because I don't know if you have a source of Income.

--Will update you post any additional details.

    **Update:

How can you be making $2,000 per month (you said you get $500 per week at your job), but not have a paycheck.  That is a bit confusing.

  3. Check with the hospital to see if there are any options to repay your hospital bill. If you are a single mother or even if you are married and don't make much money, there is a possibility that you will be eligible for medicaid. If you do not get medicaid see if your hospital has any grants for people in need. even if you have to pay a dollar a month, pay something on that hospital bill so it doesn't go to collections. But the up side is you have time on your side- you are young so you have time to clear up your mistakes. Good luck!

  4. Get a secured credit card and start from there. You can also open a savings account with a debit card. That helps you establish trust with the bank and after a while try opening a checking account with them. You're more likely to be able to open a checking account that way.

  5. Go to Consumer Credit....a Gov. Agency....they can talk to all the companies you owe and they will stop the interest or take it away....They can work it out so that you will be able to make payments..pay stuff off and have good credit!!

Most companies just want the money you borrowed from them...will drop all the interest.  Good luck!!

YOU can even talk to the companies..they would be grateful to get the money you borrowed and drop the interest..will work with you.  Especially if you explain to them..do this or I file bankruptcy!!!  They will go for it!!
