I bought a pattern for a scarf.... I am a begginer and after purchasing it, I noticed that in microscopic writting is stated this pattern was for intermediate knitters! I need help deciphering what this pattern wants me to do!

Fist it states cast on 17 sts. Knit 14 rows garter st. This I understand but then bellow this it says:

NOTE - break of C1, between stripes, carry C2 and C3 loosely up side of work catching in on every alternate row.

What the......?

I understand that the c1, c2 and c3 stands for the different yarns, but I do not know what I am supposed to be doing with it.

Then further confusing me is this...

16th row Knit next st wrapping yarns around both needles once, then around right hand needle once more, repeat.... how do you knit like that... oh I am so confused....... please help!

  1. Alright, lets start at the beginning.

Cast on 17 stitches - no problem

Knit 14 rows garter stitch - no problem

Break of c1 between stripes carry c2 & c3 loosly up side of wrk

When doing stripes, you do not cut the yarns, you carry them up the side of the scarf & every other row put them into the stitch that ends the row.  This will secure the yarns so you don't have them just fluttering around.  To do this securing, you are supposed to grab all the yarns & wrap them around both the needles & then again around the right one which would cause a yarn over when you knit the stitch.  It really isnt that tough.  Any more questions, just email me.   Good luck
