  1. ok i'm not that good at it myself but i turn side ways in the chair. then when i'm getting off i try to keep my weight on my back foot and let the lift guide me down, then let go. sorry i can't be of more help.

  2. That's one of those things that can be tough.  If you don't have one get a good stomp pad.  Try to get yourself turned in the seat and don't push off to hard.  Good Luck!

  3. You put your foot right behind your binding it should go in, and just go straight until you slow down.  That is the easiest way not to fall.  You just have to relax, and remind yourself you will slow down.

If you have to turn, wait until you've went straight for a tiny bit, and then put pressure with your heels or toes on the edge you would be turning with.  Bend your knees if you try and turn.

  4. Get a stomp pad if you're having trouble getting off.  Turn sideways and hold onto the back of the seat as you get near the top.  As soon as you feel your board hit the ground, put your back foot onto the pad and push off the chair.  Then just ride as if you were strapped in.  That's the best I can tell you over the net.

You COULD put in your back foot while on the lift, but you might get yelled at by the lift operators or jeopardize your safety and maybe others.  They safest way to do it is to put down the bar and put your board over one of the foot bars.  Then just put your back foot in and strap in.  Just be sure you get off really fast or you might hurt yourself.  I've noticed that if you don't get off fast enough, the back of your back leg gets pinched under your seat.  I don't recommend doing this until you're confident with getting off though.

  5. You could take a lesson. But no matter how much you read or get instructed, you have to do it all by yourself the first time. First of all, every ski lift is different, so one persons advice may not work for all. Very important; If you are regular, your left foot (reverse if goofy) should be the only foot strapped in during loading, riding, and getting off the lift. It is practically a law that you will fall the first few times getting off the lift. I know I did, lol. Sit sideways in the seat, with your strapped in foot in front, and your other foot on the stomp pad. Get up slowly, don't push yourself away from the chair too fast. Try to glide and snowboard as usual, stopping as soon as you are out of the way of others getting off the lift. Learning to get off the lift is one of the hardest skills to learn in skiing and snowboarding. Good Luck.

  6. The worst is when someone falls, pushes-up, and bears a real, s----t eating grin; this when the chair hits us in the back of the head.  Stay close to the snow, peep upwards (if possible) to watch the chair pass, then get-up confidently.

    1. near jump zone > you will point snowboard forward > shift in the seat-a-little.

    2. placing backfoot on traction pad > let snowboard glide across surface

    3.  look for an "unload" marker > otherwise, stand-up (on the board) at the more foreward-going drop/downhill slide

    4.  Bend front knee > lean a bit downhill > glide

Would you think twice about a parkslide after climbing the ladder?  Standing-up at the tabletop area is kind-of a big no; much too early; gliding-away shouldn't require "skateboarding."

  7. There really aren't any tips on how to get off a chairlift. What you should do is try your best to keep your balance and go straight; do not try and come to a stop. Go straight until you stop or start slowing down and then you'll fell a sign of satisfaction.

    Hope this helps!
