I need major help! My Luna is having a problem with her eye! It is wet like it's tearing and my dad says it looks bigger than the other. The fur around it is white and she has been scratching it because the fur is facing forword and pressed against her face. She licks her foot and scratches it like a dog does, going around and a round. I need to only go to a vet if necessarary because it costs a lot of money. She is miserable, what do I do.

Oh and that eye bleeds about every 3 weeks.

  1. Ohh Luna the hamster!? Thats my hamsters name!! =-D

Well there is obviously somthing in her eye. Hamsters eyes get irratated mostly becasue of dusty bedding. Change you bedding right away. I recomend Carefresh. http://www.pet-dog-cat-supply-store.com/... It is the mest bedding on the market and is dust free. Can you visably see anything in her eye? I would say just leave it be and change the bedding, but you said her eye was bleeding!? If her eye was bleeding, definatly take her to the vet. There is a good chance that she has mites. Mites are like lice but for hamsters. Since her eye was bleeding, There is a good chance that she is probably partially blinded in that eye. If she is blinded, it shouldn't be a huge problem because hamsters don't have good eyesite to begin with, and use there scent to get around.

Anyway, your hamster is obvioulsy in great discomfert and I think that it is very nessacary tht you see a vet. He will probably just give you daily medication for her eye. You really should go. =-)

    Good luck =-D

EDIT: oh of course I don't expect you to rush out to the vet NOW at this exact moment at 10:00 pm. Just look online or in yellow pages tonight for an exotic animal vet that deals with hamsters. Call and make an appointment tonight if they are opend, or first thing tomarrow morning. Again, good luck =]

  2. TAKE HER TO THE VET TOMORROW! OR AN ANIMAL EMERGENCY ROOM.

    ARE YOU DUMB?

  3. VET VET VET!!!

Good Luck with your poor hamster!

  4. Take her out of her cage and clean it. But do not put her bedding back in. you can just lay paper towel on the bottom. Often bedding can irritate eyes and cause infections. Make sure she has plenty of food and water. Tomorrow call the vet and ask if she needs antibiotics to clear up the infection. Often they clear up once the bedding is gone. Then go to your pet store and find an alternative bedding for her, such as corn cob.

  5. im NOT REALLY SURE but a suggestion: i dont really remember but reading about hamsters , NOT SURE SO I DOESNT MEAN YOUR LUNA HAS IT: that it could be *wet tail* google that immediately . I hope its not : if so there would be messy poops on her butt and on the fur around her butt, plz google the wet tail thing bc im a fan of hammys and i care about other hammys 2.
