I got the AVG free edition and it found a couple of viruses, which were sent to the vault, and so I deleted them from there. But the Antivirus XP still says I have 739 viruses! How can I completely get rid of all of these?!

  1. You have malware on your computer. The Warning is not true and it must be removed.

Update your Anti Virus and Anti Spyware

    Turn off System restore

    Start Computer in Safe Mode

Scan with Anti Virus and Anti Spyware

After scan is finished and you have deleted the Maleware

Restart computer set a new restore point and delete all previous points.

Rescan with Anti Virus and Anti Spyware.

If you do not have Anti Virus or Anti Spy Ware I recommend Avast and Spyware Terminator.

Download, install and update from these links

Delete any values added to the registry.

If all this doesn't work reformat your cpu

  3. Antivirus XP is a fake, you do not have 739 viruses, its lying to scare you into buying it, Antivirus XP is a virus itself and is probably the only virus on your PC.

Download an run the the following free software in order one by one, delete what ever they find should leave your PC free of infections:

    Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

    Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi...

Once you have removed it keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)
