HELP! How to get finger paints out of clothes?

Question

My kids went to a friends house this afternoon in their brand new summer outfits and came back covered in finger paints!!!!! The friends mom says it's just basic finger paint. So how do I get this out?

I haven't done anything yet because I don't want the paints to set.

Most finger paints are water-soluble...  it should come out in the regular wash.  Goodluck!

don't know if this will work for finger paints but does work on ball point pen ink.   spray the article with CANNED HAIRSPRAY, any brand, but must be canned.    saturate a spot then BLOT it, DO NOT RUB IT,  keep saturating and blotting till the stains are gone.    

may or may not work, but for a dollar or two it's worth a try.

never heard of the hairspray ruining any garments.

All paints are actually plastics and dissolve by the following chemicals which should be safe:

Most paints are water based due to the cost of shipping and assembling the paints.  First try soaking them in water, the hotter the better as hot water will speed up the paint dissolving.  Then flush with lots of water.

Soda is a long shot as all it is is carbonated water - meaning if it works then hot water would work just as well without any cans to open.

Lots of paints have acrylics in them too.  Acetone (nail polish remover) should break down the chemical bonds in acrylic allowing it to decompose rapidly, then flush with water.

Hairspray works because of the benzene or alcohol in it.  You could also try rubbing alcohol as I'm pretty sure you aren't much of a drinker (vodka would work as well).  These also do a great job of dissolving paints.

On white clothes bleach is always good as it attacks the chemicals as well as removes residue.

Beyond that I could tell you stuff that you would need a gas mask and rubber gloves for, but I'm certain that that list will resolve your problem.

And you though I only ever talked about religion, huh.
