& please don't be like "u looser" or "private school is 4 stuck up's" I'm a real person w/ real feelings who is really nervous about switching schools & I'm seriously asking for help.

If you've been in my position please tell me your story!

  1. i went to catholic school from pre-k - 8th grade then went to

a public high school where i didnt know ANYONE!

we had uniforms at both schools so it wasnt a big shocker.

I actually liked public alot better, and hey the more people the better chance you have of making good friends and hey, if theres that many they aren't all just going to be like... look at the new girl! If you have that many ppl per class they probably wont notice 1/2 as much as 10 poeple in a room would.

wear something simple your first day to check out how everyone else dresses. like a cute top and jeans

cant go wrong with that combo!

HTH! GL at your new school!

  2. I also go to a private school. Last year my friend switched from private to public school. He said picking out clothes was no problem. Just wear what you usually wore when you came home from school in the past. When he and I were in middle school we practically knew everyone in the school because there were 15 people in each class.  There are always nice people. A good way to make friends is to pick up a sport at school and meet new people. Uh and good luck I guess.

  3. thats a big change

well be yourself people will accept you for who you are  tlk to your mom or friends about us boys cause many people have bf gf s so well dont get caught in peer preassure and stay foucused  have FUN!!!!!!!!

  4. I switched out of a small private school too. Public school is so much better! Just relax, take a deep breath, and say "Hey" to your new locker mate. Extra curricular activities are really great when you're trying to meet people.

In a block schedule (at least at my school) the classes last 50 minutes. Block classes are usually AP or Honors, and they last for two class periods straight. Because they're twice as long as normal classes, you only take them for one semester but get as many credits as if you'd taken a yearlong class. Cool right? NOT ALL CLASSES ARE BLOCKS!!!

Jeans are totally fine in most places. And detention is really not that bad, honest.

If you have other questions you should go to your school's counseling office and talk about with a counselor. It'll probably be really busy so close to school starting, but it's worth it for the peace of mind. It'll also be a good time to walk through your schedule, make sure you can find all the classrooms and stuff. It really helps on that first day when you know where your locker is, how to get to your classes, the cafeteria, the restrooms, etc.

Good luck, but remember: Don't just take my word for it - TALK TO YOUR COUNSELOR BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!!! It is SOO IMPORTANT! UGH!

(PS: If your school is like mine, it'll be extremely crowded the first few weeks, but after like three weeks, every one who's gonna drop out will drop out. So instead of having like, 2,000 people all trying to get tables in your lunch shift there'll be like 1,800 or something. Hallways clear up like magic!)

...sorry about the awkward length of this post, lol.

  5. LOL public schools aren't that crowded. There are federal and state limits on the amount of students per teacher. So yea there will be 20-30 students in a class. Best bet to find out what to wear first off is go to your school's website. It will have a clothing guide line as to what is acceptible and what is not.  Definately no clothing with curse words or inappropriate behavior pictured or described. Beyond that it's up to the school. Some state only solid colors others allow screen print or patterns on your clothes. From there go to the local mall and see what the other teens your age are wearing. Best advice is athe first few weeks stick with nice shirts and jeans. Nothing to risque or outgoing until you get a feel as to what is popular and what is just not right.

Trust me your school has a dress code just not a required uniform.

If you have problems adjusting then the person to speak to first is your guidance councellor. They are there to help you through this and figure out where you want to go in life or what course of studies you'd like to focus on.

  6. Don't worry about more people. Unless you're shy that shouldn't take much getting used to.

How would you get in trouble for what you're wearing? The dress code is mostly sense, don't wear anything derogatory or revealing. If you mean you want to wear something that kids won't make fun of you for, just wear a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, then see what other people are wearing.

  7. It's ok! Public School Is Alot Of Fun! Who Cares What People Thinks Of Your Clothes! You Should Fit In Fine! There Are Always Different Groups So You Should Find A Group That Will Fit You In Just Right!

Good Luck To You! I Hope You Have Fun!
