HELP I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SAVE

Question

A DROWNING WOODCHUCK. I already got it out of my pool a 1/2 hour ago and now its just lying there, breathing so it alive. I NEED HELP! WHAT DO I DO?

call animal control to come pick it up and save it or call the vet.

EDIT: no animal control does work. they come and take the animal and care for it. ever heard of the aspca? non-profit animal organization. DUH! and my vet i know doesn't make you pay for a call-in my sister took in a hurt bird that we found our cat playing with. they cared for it until it was better (no charge) and then we went up the the vet's office and watched it go free. so just call your vet or take it in and ask ifthey will care for it.

the person below me has no idea what their talking about. just keeping it warm probably won't save it. it needs medical help!

Animal control won't likely do anything, and most vets won't unless you pay them. You could call the operator and see if there are any wildlife rescues in your area. If not, then keep the woodchuck in a large box with a blanket or towel to keep it warm and comfortable, get a bowl with water in it, and some veggies (carrots and salad work well). Keep it warm, but not hot, and keep it out of the sun. There's not a lot I can explain in terms of animal CPR over the web, but your best bet is to make it comfortable and try to find an animal rescue.

Get a local animal specialist of any type that you know will take care of the animals. Such as a vet or any other suggestions.
